The moment Karen and James contacted us for their Norfolk festival wedding, we knew that the festival-loving-wedding-detailed gods had brought us together. This robust and gregarious couple chose their home and property to host this festival-inspired wedding. And what better location than the summer gardens and emerald fields for a vibrant Norfolk wedding.

At a nearby barn-turned-Airbnb-getaway, Karen got ready with her best friends and her adorable daughter, Daisy. The rainy morning was filled with drinking champagne, exchanging gifts and outpouring of laughter and tears. Karen and James had planned their outdoor wedding for three years – so rain or shine, it was going to happen! Gratefully, the morning rain showers dispersed, and the wedding moved forward as planned. Karen and her posse jumped into a bright yellow mini camper van and headed to the festival-inspired wedding.

Note to future couples: Hiring a celebrant for the whole day is key! This allows for flexibility and eases the unpredictability of late guests, vendor hiccups and naughty weather!

The ceremony took place under a giant tree. Below its’ branches was an archway draped in fuchsia and scarlet flowers. Guests snuggled up on hay bales while Karen and James engaged in handfasting, rings warming, vows, topping it off with jumping the broom. Guests then migrated to cocktail hour where caricaturists and fire-dancing-peacock-wearing artists entertained guests with performances and amazing signature drinks.

The unique festival wedding did not stop there. Karen and James asked guests to join them inside a massive tepee which housed dinner and the afterparty. Once inside the vivacious tent, family and friends were belly-laughing at the humorous speeches. We were double-over laughing alongside them! While inside the cosy tepee, the rain returned with vengeance. But this did not deter any guests from departing. Rather, the festival wedding kept guests on the dance floor (even Andy!) all night long. And by all night long, we mean the party went on until the break of dawn! Anticipating a pretty epic celebration, Karen and James had glamping tents for their guests to retreat to once the sun was coming up.

We loved all the personal touches and non-stop entertainment. We were especially impressed by how they managed to plan such a detailed festival-inspired wedding without a wedding planner! Karen and James were very hands-on. They sourced all the amazing suppliers themselves by attending various fayres and planned everything from start to finish themselves. We were very much impressed!
