This hot, sunny day began with Steffi getting carefully laced into her sparkling gown from Ditsy Rose in one of the college rooms. Her beautiful up-do was crafted by Sadie’s scissors n’ curls, upon which sat a dainty sparkling tiara. Once the girls were ready we had time for a few photos outside where we captured Steffi and her stunning white gown amongst tall purple blooms, in a very similar hue to her bridesmaid’s dresses. These college flowers were in-fact in perfect harmony with the wedding colour scheme, matching Steffi’s summer bouquet by Heidi Appleyard and the soft lilac ties and posies worn by the gentleman.

Meanwhile, the guests gathered outside serenaded by the dreamy strums coming from the skilled fingertips of a harpist and the glorious sunshine gave us the opportunity to take plenty of photographs of everyone getting into place for the big moment. Steffi and Andrew took quite a risk planning an outdoor ceremony in the British summer, but their gamble paid off and they were rewarded with blue skies all day.

Chairs were laid out on the carefully manicured lawns of the college and Steffi was walked down the paved pathway by her father, towards a great arch hung with fresh flowers, a stunning outdoor aisle. It was so beautiful it appeared to touch the very hearts of the young ring bearer and flower girl, who were so overwhelmed with teary emotion they had to hastily excuse themselves from their big moments!

After the ceremony, Steffi’s family arranged a Traditional German wedding blessing as a surprise. The newlyweds were required to cut out a heart in a large sheet so that the groom could carry the bride through it!

Further games took place in the garden such as the Shoe Game and other guessing games involving all the guests about how the couple met and other fun facts about them. During the activities, we were able to sneak the newlyweds off for a little couples’ shoot where we snapped them strolling hand in hand through the lush Magdalene college greenery.

The reception took place in a great hall on long banqueting tables, the glorious sun streaming through the stained-glass windows, brightening the dark green panelled walls hung with gold-framed portraits. All the catering was done in house by Magdalene college, fuelling the guests for their evening pursuits.

The party kicked off with a Traditional Ceilidh band, Dancing Yew, rather than the traditional first dance, getting everyone on the dance floor straight away. There was an array of spectacular moves with people dancing along a line, spinning their partners and joining hands, it was a great end to their special day.

Before the couple turned in for the night, we just had to get a shot of them under the cloudless summer sky, so we borrowed them one last time, snapping a stunning picture of them touching foreheads beneath a twinkling blanket of stars.
