Longstowe Hall - The Venue

Longstowe Hall is an awe-inspiring wedding venue located near us on the outskirts of Cambridge. They specialize in outdoor ceremonies in a gazebo by their glistening lake. This makes for incredibly epic ceremony images for your Longstowe Hall wedding photography!

Close by, there are several stunning outdoor options for friends, family and guests to gather before and after the ceremony to socialize. As Longstowe Hall wedding photographers, we have loved documenting unique and heart-stirring images at this venue.

Outdoor wedding at Longstowe Hall

We want to shout it from the rooftops: Yes, you can have an outdoor wedding in the UK!

Harriet and Tom’s elegant and relaxed Longstowe Hall wedding is evidence that any UK couple can successfully pull-off their dream outdoor wedding. Yes, an accessible and dependable plan B is always a good idea. But before you give up on your lush green aisle under the sunny skies, do know that it is possible.

And it is even more possible when you choose a venue that is dedicated to making you and your fiance’s wishes come true. Although some venues make an executive decision the morning of the wedding, the Longstowe Hall staff waited as long as they could for the sun’s debut. One of the reasons we love shooting here is because their staff is dedicated to perfecting the wedding day for their couples. High five to five-star service!

After the morning mist passed, the sun made its entrance for Harriet and Tom’s ceremony. The guests gathered on the emerald lawn to watch the stunning bride arrive by horse and carriage. Being an avid horse lover, this was the perfect way for her to meet her emotional groom at the gazebo. It was a breath-taking sight!

Drinks Reception On The Lawn

Once Harriet and Tom were officially wed, the guests mingled on the grass under the warm sun. For all of our UK couples, we recommend setting aside 1.5-2 hours of drinks reception time. The majority of our couples love the documentary-styled images we capture of the guests during this time as well as the amazing portraits we capture of families and bridal portraits. The portraits usually take an approximate 20-30 minutes which leaves an ample amount of time to meet with your beloved guests. Not only is it the only 20-30 minutes of alone time you and your partner will share on the wedding day, but it tends to also be the moments that our couples choose to print and frame more than any other.

Photography until midnight

Harriet and Tom had a night of entertainment planned for their friends and family. From magicians performing hilarious and surprising tricks to singing waiters who rallied everyone – including Grandma – out of their chairs to the saxophonist whose soulful sounds added to the party atmosphere. There was so much going on and it was a blast to photograph!

But our favourite moment was when all of the guests surrounded the bride and groom on the dance floor, dancing to the music before spontaneously initiating in an epic group hug. The perfect end to a stunning outdoor Longstowe Hall wedding!
